In this blog post, I’ll share my academic plan, goals, reasons for pursuing this path, and a self-introduction for becoming a computer teacher.

Motivation for Enrollment

I had only done simple Word tasks before, but when I actually started building my own personal website, I became deeply fascinated by computers themselves, which is why I enrolled at Sunlin Internet High School. Over the course of three years, while studying specialized computer-related subjects such as C, JavaScript, and web programming, my dream of becoming a computer teacher became even more firmly established. The decisive factor in my decision to apply to your university was a teacher from Sookmyung Women’s University who came to our school as a student teacher during my freshman year. She told me that the Department of Information Science at ○○ Women’s University offers the most systematic education in computer science theory in the country, and from that moment on, I decided to apply to your university’s Department of Information Science.

Academic Plan and Goals

I plan to major in Computer Science within the Department of Information Science. This is because, among all computer-related teaching positions, I aspire to become a programming teacher. Programming languages are unfamiliar to most people, as they rarely have the opportunity to encounter them in daily life, so they can feel very difficult when first learning them. However, as I studied programming courses, I realized that if one builds a solid foundation in the basics and concepts, programming can become an incredibly enjoyable subject. Once I become a teacher, I want to show my students that programming languages—which can seem difficult at first—are actually quite fun.
I also plan to study Counseling as a minor. While the information society has made people’s lives more convenient, it has also brought about many negative consequences. For example, it cuts off meaningful face-to-face communication and leads to issues like internet addiction, driving people into a state of mental poverty. The harm this causes to adolescents, who are going through a particularly sensitive phase of their lives, is especially severe. About six months ago, I sought counseling from a teacher who minored in counseling, and I remember that this teacher provided me with more practical help than anyone else. Through that experience, I realized how important counseling is, and I decided that I, too, want to become a teacher who can help students through appropriate counseling.

Plans After Graduation

After graduation, I will teach computer-related subjects and provide high-quality instruction to my students. In particular, I plan to research ways to make the programming languages I specialize in more accessible and engaging. My goal is to increase students’ interest and enthusiasm for programming languages. I will also work to help students understand the pros and cons of the information society early on and devise ways to prevent the negative effects caused by excessive computer use. Whenever I have free time, I will also volunteer to help students and members of the general public who need counseling. This is because I believe that, as someone who majored in computer science, I have a mission to contribute to creating a positive culture—not merely as a teacher who instructs others in computers.

Self-Introduction (Outlook on Life and Values)

Ever since I was young, my dream has been to become a teacher. This is because I have always been interested in teaching and guiding others. It was during my second year of middle school that I first encountered computers. The world I discovered through the internet felt vast and entirely new to me, and I found great joy in interacting with new people and acquiring a wealth of information and knowledge. As a result, computers became my greatest hobby. My teacher encouraged me to develop this hobby further and consider becoming a teacher in that field, and thanks to that advice, I was able to form the concrete dream I have today of becoming a computer teacher. They say, “A smart person cannot beat a hard-working person, and a hard-working person cannot beat someone who enjoys what they do.” Since computers have been my most enjoyable hobby, I am confident that I can enjoy studying them. I expect that because I am doing this for the sheer joy of it—not just to pursue a dream—I will be able to achieve better results than anyone else.
